In another prospective, randomized and controlled trial, 136 participants were assigned to red or broad-spectrum red/near-infrared light treatments or a control group. Treatments were performed twice per week.

  • Skin complexion

  • Collagen density

  • Significant reductions in the measured length of certain glabellar and eye-area wrinkles compared with the sham group

  • Participant satisfaction rates of 79.6% and 73.4% in the two treatment groups

  • No statistically significant difference between groups on one separate clinician-rated wrinkle scale

  • No clear advantage from receiving three treatments per week instead of two

Is Red Light Therapy Safe for the Face?
